Island Park is a haven for outdoor recreationists, locals, and vacationers alike. It has something for everybody! If you are looking to climb, hike, float, ride, hunt, fish or simply relax while taking in the beautiful scenery, this is the place for you.
Not quite sure how to experience the beauty of Island Parks scenery and waters? Kayaking, paddleboarding, or float tubing is our favorite way to explore! We provide single and tandem kayak rentals, sit-in and sit-on top kayak rentals, paddleboard rentals, and tube rentals all within a short drive of Island Park. To top it all off, we ensure that we have the cheapest daily rental fees in the area, and we make sure you are well educated on both how and where to go float.
If you’re a first-time gear user, we always recommend getting your sea legs on some calmer waters! If you’re using a kayak rental or a paddleboard rental, make sure you get some basic instructions from our gear heads at the shop. Once you’ve got the how to, we suggest a variety of different spots for your first float. Our top locations for a first-time float include Big Spring’s, Cliff or Wade Lake, Buffalo River Campground, or Chester Dam near St. Anthony. Each of these floats are beautiful and are located with 45 minutes to an hour of Island Park.
If you’re looking for a little more excitement, we’ve got you covered for that too! For the experienced floater looking for a good time on an R1 or R2 river, we recommend Box Canyon or the Henry’s Fork by Ashton. Each is close to Island Park and provides a little more excitement than the previous floats. On these stretches of river, we recommend you have the ability to steer yourself, but they can still be floated safely in a float tube.
If you’re just looking for a day in the sun and on the water, there are a variety of lakes located in and around Island Park that are perfect to take a kayak rental to. Some of our favorites include Island Park reservoir, Henry’s Lake, Teardrop Lake, and Horseshoe Lake. Although, if you ask us which lake is truly remarkable, we always recommend Cliff or Wade Lakes as they have few people and reflect the true beauty of the area.
No matter how you choose to adventure, we stand ready to provide you with top notch gear and local knowledge developed over years of recreating all over Island Park.
