Gas prices have hit all of us in the pocketbook – HARD! That doesn’t mean that we have to stop adventuring and having fun with family and friends! Here at InstaGear Outdoor Rentals (InstaGear Outdoors) we are all about increasing access to and elevating your adventures. We have chosen to keep our prices low, so that gear isn’t a barrier to your adventures. That doesn’t mean we all don’t still need cheap adventure options close to home! We are here to provide those for you.If you live in Saint Anthony, Rexburg, Sugar City, Ashton or anywhere in between, read up, as today we will list out the most economical and yet elevated adventures close to home for each adventure category!

Camping – Eagle Rock Campground

You don’t even have to leave the city of Rexburg to get your camp on! Eagle rock campground is a close to home alternative that is beautiful, safe, and fun to enjoy with both kids and friends alike. With 24 tent sites and plenty of shade this is a great way to get outdoors. With wide open grassy spaces this is a great campground to take some of our yardgames to! You can rent 9-Square-in-in-the-air, cornhole, frisbee golf, and lots more.

Fishing – Teton River

The Teton flows next to or through many of the towns from Rexburg on up to St. Anthony and used to be a world class fishery! Although it isn’t as good as it once was, rent a fishing pole and go find yourself a hole, this river still holds some lunkers and is fairly easy access for young fishermen and women. There are dozens of places to access the river and as long as you stay below the high watermark you can move up and down it freely. One of our favorite places that encourages access is right next to Teton Corners Nature Preserve(Google it, its awesome!) just West of Rexburg. With a pullout right by the bridge you have access to some decent fishing and beautiful scenery close to town.

River Float – Chester Dam to Fun Farm Bridge

Less than a 10-minute drive from St. Anthony this is a gorgeous float suitable for tubes, kayaks, and paddleboards early in the season. Once August hits we suggest sticking to tubes and flat bottomed kayaks as it does get a little shallow. For this close to home float you can put in just below the Chester Dam and float down to the Fun Farm Bridge. It is a great float for families wanting to get some of their smaller kiddos out on the river.

Hike – “R” Mountain

“R” Mountain or as it’s also known, the Menan Butte, is a great close to home hike for all age ranges. Challenging for little ones and enjoyable stroll for adults this is an adventure that you have to try if your living in Eastern Idaho. It’s not really a mountain but an inactive volcano that was formed around 10,000 years ago when lava came up through the Snake River groundwater. We suggest hitting this hike early in the morning to avoid the summer heat.

Lakeside Fun – Rigby Lake

Rigby lake, also known as Jefferson County Lake, is just 14 miles from Rexburg. This lake is a great spot for swimming, camping, picnics and more. With sandy beaches, multiple shelters, a paved path and more, this is the perfect spot to get out and play in the water and on the shore! We suggest renting our inflatable Paddleboards and some of our yard games to keep your group entertained.

Day in the Sand – St. Anthony Sand Dunes
For a day in the sand, don’t forget that we live nextdoor to some world class sand dunes! Whether you are catching lizards, riding ATV’s, or just playing in the sand the dunes will provide you with an awesome adventure! We’ve always loved catching lizards and jumping off the top of a dune or two. Just remember to keep an eye and ear out for ATV’s if your out on foot.
